About - Maharashtra Sate Pharmacy Council

Maharashtra State pharmacy Council (MSPC) is a statutory body constituted by the Government Of Maharashtra under the provisions of the Pharmacy Act 1948 (a central Act) consisting of 6 members elected by Registered Pharmacists amongst themselves, five members nominated by Government Of Maharashtra, one member elected by Maharashtra Medical Council and three Ex-Officio Members. Functioning of MSPC is in accordance with said Act and Rules framed by Maharashtra government that is Maharashtra State pharmacy Council Rules 1969. Maharashtra State pharmacy Council came into existance on 1.09.1964.

The prime function of the Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council is to grant registration to the eligible applicants complying with the provisions of section 32(2) of the Pharmacy Act and to enforce the necessary provisions of the Pharmacy Act 1948. Presently there are more than 3 lac 80,000 registered pharmacists on records of MSPC. In Maharashtra there are more than 400 D pharm colleges and more than 200 B pharm colleges ,few Pharm D colleges approved by PCI ,New Delhi Applicants passing from these colleges apply to MSPC on its online portal.

Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council has office premises at Mulund west Mumbai. MSPC has its own websitewww.mspcindia.org Process of registration, renewal and allied processes are made online offering convenience of online submission of form ,documents and remittance of online fees by applicants. Application related and approval related SMS and mails are sent to applicants though online system At Council, all the data of registered pharmacists is computerized and registered pharmacist can view details and status of their registration from "Search Registered pharmacist section" on website (www.mspcindia.org). Registration certificate granted after approval of New registration application is with security features and bears scanned photo and signature of applicant.

Apart from issuing registration certificate, Council also has started issuing Pharmacist's Professional Profile (PPP) as Professional Identity Card (smart card with QR CODE) to applicants /registered pharmacists who wish to apply for same.

Maharashtra State Pharmacy council has been very proactive in upgrading the Pharmacy Profession by starting its Drug information centre which is the first one in West zone of our country. DIC has successfully completed WHO funded projects and answers appropriate queries in authentic and unbiased way.

In this world of fierce competition, taking into consideration the need to update the knowledge of our stake holders, council has started REFRESHER COURSES and Patient counselling courses for registered pharmacist. The Council’s DIC has framed the content for such courses with the help of teachers, professors of Pharmacy Colleges and experts from this field. Also considering the difficulties faced by registered pharmacist in physical attendance of such course due to geographical distances at any venue, council has developed Online refresher course for registered pharmacists.

With advances in information technology, it is endeavour of MSPC’s DIC to send E newsletter to registered pharmacists on their available e mail ids, reacted to various diseases ,drugs etc and especially during Covid 19 council has conducted various webinars for registered pharmacist and received positive response for same.
